Earlier in the year Chesterfield businesses and residents successfully crowdfunded a scheme to purchase reusable coffee cups. We did this because each year Britain uses 2.5 billion plastic-lined coffee cups with each disposable cup taking 30 years to decompose, and shockingly, only one in 400 cups end up being recycled.
The reusable coffee cups are branded with a beautiful Chesterfield themed design created by local illustrator, Chris Livings, and lists on it names of all businesses who sponsored money to help pay for them.
A number of cups were purchased at the Plastic Free Festival on the 8th August, but there are now many cups left to purchase. Plastic Free Chesterfield is working with our Chesterfield businesses to help to sell these beautiful cups.
Each coffee cup costs £3.00 and you can purchase one from any of the following locations:
- Chesterfield Coffee Co
- Chesterfield Tourist Information Centre
- El Cafe Verde
- Lottie’s Sandwich Bar
- Olympia House Antiques & Craft Centre
- Monkey Park
- Samaritans charity shop (West Bars)
- The Cheese Factor
Money raised from the sale of the cups will go to support Plastic Free Chesterfield’s future public events.
